Our Story

FOIL Wheels is family owned and operated by Kiwi cyclists Scott and Melanie Fitzgerald. Scott a former NZ Mountain Bike Team member, who's career now finds him as Captain for an International Airline is supported by Melanie with her extensive corporate sales and marketing experience.  

For the past 13yrs they spent their time living between Asia and New Zealand, this enabled them to be hands on in all aspects of the operation during the critical early stages, from design and production, thru to customer service and end sales.

FOIL, was born in New Zealand during 2013, the name FOIL was chosen while watching the Americas cup boats on their hydrofoils.  By definition a hydrofoil is a shaped vane reducing drag and creating lift, in our case reducing drag and creating free speed. 

The cornerstone of FOIL is to provide high performance, wheels direct to the rider, racer or casual cruiser.  

Scott and Melanie believe everyone should be able to experience the performance, handling, speed, enjoyment and safety that comes from riding on a quality product.   Their products are developed and tested by riders for riders.   Employing online direct sales enables them to price product, at a fraction of our competitors.   FOIL Wheels truly are attainable by anyone.   If online is not your thing then look out for one of our carefully selected retailers.
